Aerial view of neighborhood on Kiawah Island SC By Terry Bell-Aby, Realtor, CNE Luxury Simplified Real Estate

Have you ever dreamed of having your own beach house on Kiawah Island SC? And, since we’re dreaming after all, why not dream it to be custom-built, with all the features you would love to include in a private beach getaway? And while we’re at it – imagine what your perfect, ordinary day on this upscale resort island just might look like …

A Kiawah Morning …

Sip coffee on the deck and watch the Great Blue Heron fishing off the nearby pond. Grab the leash and walk the dog on the nearly empty beach. It’s high tide this morning so there is a bit less beach – but the sunrise views over the Atlantic Ocean are still spectacular. Tennis anyone? You’ve got a standing weekly doubles match booked at the club – and this week, you and your partner are feeling a victory ahead. And afterwards? There’s nothing quite like the exhilaration of an outdoor shower (better add that to the notes for the architect!). Time to ride the bikes to Freshfields Village on the new bike path.

A Midday Trip to Freshfields Village …

Stop at Indigo Books to chat with owners Nat and Linda about the latest beach read. Buy two books and order one for next week. Pop into Harris Teeter’s Village Market grocery store for a few items for dinner and some flowers before heading back to the house. Lunch on the deck with fresh tomatoes from a Johns Island farm stand, fresh mozzarella, and basil from the deck garden paired with some Normandy Farms bread for a delectable lunch spread. Trim the flowers to fit the vase and then curl up with the one of the new books from Indigo. A Charleston bed swing on the porch might fit the bill perfectly for this.

It’s 5:00 somewhere …

Time to prep for dinner with friends. Fresh, local shrimp for the grill, one giant garden salad, and whatever else the pot-luck turns up. Take beach chairs, the dog, and “to-go cups” of your favorite “5 o’clock beverage ” to meet up with friends for appetizers at the boardwalk. You and the crew head back to the house, where snacks and appetizers are piled along the center island of the kitchen and a bottle or two gets uncorked.

And, as the sun begins to set who knows when really, the last of the dinner guests leave – and it’s time to pick up that second book from Indigo.
